Foreign Insurers operating in Spain

Explanation of codes

  • All: Shows all insurers listed on the administrative register irrespective of their legal form.
  • C: Shows Public Limited Companies.
  • E: Shows foreign insurers doing business in Spain through a branch in Spain. The country where the registered office is located is responsible for financial supervision of branches of insurers based in the European Economic Area (EEA).
  • L: Shows foreign insurers that are doing business in Spain from another EEA member state as a free service provider. The country where the registered office is located is responsible for financial supervision of these insurers.
  • M: Shows Mutual Insurance Companies.
  • P: Shows Mutual Benefit Societies.
  • R: Shows Reinsurers.
  • RE: Shows foreign insurers that have reported opening a branch in Spain. The country where the registered office is located is responsible for financial supervision of branches of insurers based in the European Economic Area (EEA).
  • M, P y R: Spanish Insurers

List of valid jobs for (same as)

  • C21: The search results will return the insurer having insurer code "C0021".
  • C0021:The results will be the same as for the preceding search.

Foreign Insurers operating in Spain Help

  • Shows foreign insurers that have a branch doing business in Spain (DE) under administrative code E0000 or are operating from another EEA member state as a free service provider (FSP) under administrative code L0000.
  • The country where the registered office is located is responsible for financial supervision of insurers based in the European Economic Area (EEA) operating in Spain.
  • The home country may be a non-EEA third country only in the case of branches, hence the EEA area will be the default selection.

Modalities Help

  • Modalities are activated only when one of the following lines has been selected:
    • Sick Leave
    • Automobile third-party liability
    • Defensa Jurídica
  • For Spanish insurers modality searches will be possible for the health line only, because for the legal expenses and automobile third-party liability lines approval of any modality entails licensing of the entire line.
